Bucks County Amateur Radio Net
Tuesdays 8:00 PM · 2m simplex
146.550 MHz
no tone · listen on 146.520 if you cannot hear us
Simplex on purpose: no repeater in the path, so it is a genuine test of who can
hear whom around upper Bucks.
Never checked into a net before?
- Listen first. Net control will be running things.
- Wait for the call for check-ins. Do not transmit before that.
- Give your call sign phonetically, once. Kilo Three Lima November X-ray.
- When net control comes back to you, give your name and location.
That is the whole thing. Nobody minds if you fumble it, and everybody did once.

Just got your ticket? Check into the net Tuesday at 8 and say hello.
You do not need a fancy radio, an HT will do it from most of the county.

Counted by grant date, so a renewal in a given year shows in that year.
Renewals Coming Due
81 licenses in the county expire within the next
six months. The FCC does not send reminders. You get a two year grace period to renew
after expiry, but you may not transmit during it, and once it passes the call sign goes
back in the pool.
Renew free at the FCC CORES site.
Getting Licensed
There is no Morse code requirement and has not been since 2007. The entry level
Technician exam is 35 questions drawn from a published pool of about 400, and a passing
score is 26. The whole pool is public, which means you can study the exact questions you
will be asked.
The FCC charges a $35 application fee. Test sessions usually cost around $15. Once you
pass, your call sign normally appears in the FCC database within a day or two.
Net Check-In Log
No nets logged yet. Once we start running, every check-in goes here: call sign, town
and signal report. On simplex that record is worth keeping, because it shows what
actually gets out around the county rather than what a coverage map claims.
Members
No members listed yet. Join and your call sign appears here
with your name, class and town read straight from the FCC database. Nothing to fill in
beyond the call sign itself.
Who We Are
A small, informal club in upper Bucks County built around the Tuesday net. There is no
clubhouse, no dues and no application form. If you check in, you are one of us.
